Accessibility Statement
Public safety information has to reach everyone. This site is built and maintained to meet recognized accessibility standards.
Our commitment
The Esmeralda County Sheriff's Office is committed to making this website usable by people with disabilities. We design and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at Level AA, the technical standard adopted by the Department of Justice in its 2024 rule implementing Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act for state and local government web content.
What that means in practice
- Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, and a skip link is provided to jump straight to the main content.
- Text and interface colors are chosen to meet or exceed the required contrast ratios, and the layout stays readable when text is enlarged to 200 percent.
- Headings, landmarks, and labels are marked up so screen readers can announce structure and form fields correctly.
- Form errors are announced, described in plain language, and tied to the field that needs attention.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- The site is responsive and fully usable on phones, tablets, and desktop computers.
- No content flashes, auto-plays, or moves in a way that could trigger a seizure or interrupt reading.
Requesting an accommodation
The office provides auxiliary aids and services free of charge, including qualified interpreters, documents in large print or other formats, and staff assistance completing any form on this site. Ask dispatch at (775) 485-6373, write to Esmeralda County Sheriff's Office, P.O. Box 471, Goldfield, NV 89013, or note the request in any online submission.
Reporting a barrier
If you encounter a page, document, or feature you cannot use, tell us. Include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using. We will respond and, where a fix takes time, provide the information or service through another channel in the meantime. Use the contact page to reach us.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is reviewed as part of every change to this site, and third-party content is evaluated before it is added. This statement will be updated as the site expands toward full operation in January 2027.
